News for this year’s edition of Stockholm Film Festival is the section Under the Rainbow, an initiative to highlight LGBT films.
Next month will see the 24th edition of Stockholm Film Festival. During twelve days, more than 180 films from over fifty countries will be screened at various venues around the city, along with talks, seminars, events, and award ceremonies. News for this year is a section for LGBT films, entitled Under the Rainbow, presenting contemporary films on the subject along with discussions with directors and actors. The initiative is a collaboration between Stockholm Film Festival and Josefine Tengblad, a producer and actor best known for the Swedish film Kiss Me.
– After screening Kiss Me at various festivals around the world, I wanted to raise the attention to LGBT films in Sweden, Josefine Tengblad says. With this initiative we hope to attract a wider audience, and to bring out stories that might take us one step further to a world without prejudices.
Among the films that will be shown are Xavier Dolan’s psychological thriller Tom at the Farm, Abdellatif Kechiche’s highly anticipated Blue is the Warmest Colour, and John Krokidas’ Kill Your Darlings, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Elisabeth Olsen, and Michael C. Hall, and Stacie Passon’s documentary Concussion.
On Under the Rainbow’s website, a selection of the project’s ambassadors share their thoughts and memories of LGBT love, while encouraging others to do the same. By using the #sff13rainbow on Instagram, anyone can submit their love stories for Under the Rainbow’s website.
Under the Rainbow will take place on November 8-10. See the full program here.
