Last week, young designer Diana Orving made her highly anticipated return to the Stockholm fashion scene with a show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
Completely autodidact, Diana Orving established her eponymous fashion brand in 2000, no more than fifteen years old. In 2007, she presented her first complete collection, distinguishing herself as one of the brightest Swedish design talents. Since then, her collections have been presented at fashion shows and exhibitions, nationally as well as internationally. Taking inspiration from art, dance, and movement, Diana Orving’s design is characterized by layers, volume, and dramatic draping. Creating directly on living bodies rather than on paper, Diana Orving encourages movement, both by the body but also of the garment itself.
For AW14, Diana Orving presented a sophisticated and ladylike collection, marked by sculptural draping, deep colours, and sweeping silhouettes, and shown by a refreshingly eclectic group of models.
