With inspiration from Frida Kahlo and her grandmother’s rose garden, photographer Pauline Suzor has created an enchanting editorial set in black and rose, entitled Moi Et Mes Fleurs.
My two main inspirations have been the artist Frida Kahlo and the rose garden of my grandmother, Pauline says about the editorial. I often include elements from my life and my childhood in my images, as well as strong and independent women. Frida Kahlo has been a huge inspiration to me. I find her art very appealing and she lived such a fascinating life, but most of all she was strong and stood up for herself.
Besides her long time collaborator, stylist Evelina Nässén, Pauline also worked together with make up artist and hair stylist Lisa Fredriksson and model Susanna Friberg.
– Evelina Nässén manages to visualize my thoughts with her styling. I explain to her what feelings I want to express with the styling, and she turns it into magic. In this editorial we wanted to use clothes and textures that really stood out, so we both jumped for joy when we saw Susanna in the feather dress. We didn’t want it to feel too romantic, despite all the flowers, but rather express something androgynous and clean. That’s why we had Susanna wear piercings and a dramatic, yet simple makeup with a nineties’ touch. She looks so fierce with her blue hair and cool style.
Moi Et Mes Fleurs was originally exhibited at Fashion Market earlier this summer.
