Sui Generis the name of the self titled collection that Ermir Peci chose for his graduate project in Graphic Design at Berghs School of Communication. The collection springs from the thoughts concerning the quest of an identity and the rootlessness that has colored Ermirs existence for a quarter of a century.
As a second-generation immigrant, with one foot in Sweden and one in Kosovo, the feeling of rootlessness has always been evident.
This led him to identify with the term sui generis, the Latin term for of its own kind or unique in its characteristics. Ermir feel that he succeeded to create his own existence in this rootless limbo, assembled by impressions from different cultures and experiences. He believes that every individual should have the right to create its own identity free from templates, norms and gender stereotypes. “For me the height of identity and communication is the garments you choose to wear.” Photo Fredrik Wannerstedt Stylist Nilz Källgren Make Up Jennifer Lisa The project will be showcased at Berghs School of Communications Grad Show 22—25 May.
