Filippa K was founded in 1993 and is today one of the most important and top leading fashion companies in Scandinavia, with a philosophy of timeless yet modern fashion with focus on long-lasting style and quality. Filippa Knutsson and Patrik Kihlborg started up the brand because they had a personal longing for more clean and sophisticated fashion, with essential pieces to build a perfect wardrobe.
The rain is pouring in Stockholm as I walk to the SS15 show of Filippa K Women’s wear that is held at Tändstickspalatset near Kungsträdgården. When I enter the big courtyard inside of Tändstickspalatset I’ve forgotten about the bad weather because the environment is filled with light and flowers in all kinds of colors. The models are placed on podiums around a magical fountain and the crowd of fashionable people has created a circle around them. The music playing comes from the artist Call Me who’s live performing in front of the table of champagne.
We interpret fashion into wearable, aesthetically balanced pieces, that stand the test of time – Filippa Knutsson
Filippa K continues to show effortless design and style with a mix of exclusive and timeless materials in this collection. The marked waist is definitely the most important detail, with help from large leather belts and in the fit of the garments.
Although it’s a spring and summer collection the inspiration comes a bit from the autumn; with diversity in materials amongst knitted sweaters, leather details, soft and light garments. The silhouette are more fitted at the top and gets more comfortable and fluent in the bottom, with baggy trousers or lots of skirts in a wider fit. Filippa K has also got inspiration from the big and loved city; New York.
The color scale shows a dimension of beige tones, shades of white, powdery pinks and greys with frisky accents of yellow, spicy green and icy blue. As usual, Filippa K shows a magnificent and absolute feminine collection with a less tonal look then previous seasons. The models hairstyles and make up are made simple and classic, so it’s a lot of focus on the actual clothing but with nice little details like; nude painted nails for example.
Filippa K continues to impress with their clean and timeless design.
