This autumn Belgian designer Raf Simons teams up with Fred Perry for the eighth time. The result is a collection inspired by the sixties mod styles and Americana varsity.
Belgian menswear designer Raf Simons have made himself known for his fascination for subcultures. When he once again teams up with English brand Fred Perry it is the mod styles of the sixties that has caught his attention. In the collection for this autumn he mixes classic mod styles such as checkerboard shirts and duffel coats with Americana influenced varsity jackets and emblems with oversized lettering.
– The challenge is exactly the fact that Fred Perry has a very distinctive heritage and identity, Raf Simons says about the long-time collaboration with Fred Perry. I am always interested to see in what way that can be strengthened by collaborating. It is in the first place about understanding each others codes and style but also attitude. It is about respecting each other and working on collections that translate both brands natures and challenge each other by focusing on the differences of each others nature, to create something different from what both would usually do.
In the newly released lookbook the collection is shown at the former racecourse Hippodrome de Boitsfort in Brussels, strikingly captured by photographer Pierre Debusscherre.
