Mes Dames

Twelve brands became five and five brands became one. This year’s Rookie Of The Year was awarded the elegant and artistic Mes Dames.

Rookies is a fashion forum with the aim to support smaller fashion companies in their establishment on the market through different projects and events, established by the Swedish Fashion Council in 2005. Every year a jury selects twelve fashion brands which will participate in different events throughout the year and candidate for the award Rookies Of The Year. In May five of these year’s brands were nominated for the award and now the final winner has been announced, Lisa Wikander’s brand Mes Dames.

With degrees from The Swedish School of Textiles in Borås and L’Institut Supérieur des Arts Appliqués in Paris, as well as working experiences from fashion houses Nina Ricci and Martin Margiela behind her, Lisa founded her brand Mes Dames in Paris in 2009. With Mes Dames, Lisa wants to pay an homage to the femme fatale of today, the brave, elegant, and alluring women. She combines the typical Scandinavian minimalism with the timeless elegance and artistic details of French couture.

– This year, the jury have chosen a fashion brand with well coherent collections, who show a strong ambition to grow, the jury stated in the motivation. In focus stands well-tailoried and elegantly timeless fashion, created by inspiration from characterful women. This year’s Rookies Of The Year is a fashion brand with an international appeal. My ladies, in French – Mes Dames.
