Babe of the Month is a monthly blog series created by me to promote inspiring women online.

I can’t recall when I actually stumbled upon Dear Pravda, the well curated space created by artist Rebecca Larsson, but the fascination was instant. It’s a mixture of her art projects and creative frustration, stunning videos of her fellow artist friends shaving their heads or replanting flowers, photos from life at art school and her thoughts captured in fragments. No post or art piece is really like the other and still they manage to coherently reflect the mind of this enchanting chick. I figured that it was about time that I get to know more about this wondrous person.

Hello Rebecca, how has you day been?

Hi Linn! It’s been a busy day packing since I’m travelling to Lithuania tomorrow with my art class! I also had to finish illustrating the album cover for Death Team’s new single, so there’s been no time for rest.

See, you always seem busy with new creative projects. I want to know more! Can you tell me a bit about yourself?

I’m 22 years old and I study Art at Munka Folkhögskola outside Ängelholm. I’ve been here for almost a year now and I think I will do another! Mostly I do oil painting and sketching but I also take photographs. I’m a vegan and love green plants so much. My room in school is like a jungle and I treat them even better then I treat real people sometimes, ha!

That’s amazing. Why do you think you got into art?

I don’t really know why. I have just been into art for as long as I can remember. When I was younger I went to Kulturskolan until I was 18 and got kicked out (in a nice way) basically because I was too old to continue. I chose art as my main subject in highschool after which I studied Art History at university for a year. I did go travelling for a while but now, here I am, studying art again! It’s just my natural habitat I guess.

Which of your projects are you most proud of?

Hm, it’s hard to choose but my most important is Letters From Friends. The letters are from close friends of mine and the stories are real, which is heartbreaking and fantastic at the same time.

What do you do to find inspiration for your creative projects?

Well, I wish I had that answer for you. Sometimes I just get so empty I can’t do anything and then I start scrolling down my favorite photographer Lukasz Wiersbowski’s tumblr. I always find something inspiring over there. I kind of handle it different each time. Like the last time I felt empty I made an embroidery which said “It’s okay to be useless or just not great at everything or better at something or just fine but feels empty sometimes”.

How did your blog come about and what has it grown to be?

Dear Pravda is pretty new. I think I started it about a year ago when I arrived back to Sweden from a 8 month long journey through Australia and South East Asia. I broke up with my boyfriend at the time and I thought I needed a new place for myself and everything I did. At first it was just a place for my art and my pictures, it still is, but I think it’s a bit bigger now. It’s a place where I can dump my stuff and connect with other inspiring people over the internet (like you!).

Haha thank you! Glad we can have that exchange. What gems on your blog should new readers not miss?

Well, since I’m going to Lithuania there’s going to be a lot of photos from my trip! You don’t want to miss out on Vilnius I can tell you! Maybe I’ll post some photos from my phone while I’m there, or else I’ll be back next Saturday.

You are obviously a girl crush for me! So I’d like to know who’s yours?

There are so many girls I look up to! Almost only girls actually. Like all the fantastic Swedish cartoonist like Esters Rester and Bim Eriksson. I really love the artist Alexandra Levasseur, she is such a great painter and animator. There are so many swedish bloggers too, like Frida Vega.

So many cool chicks out there! Ok, let’s talk about guilty pleasures. What’s yours?

I have actually been thinking about that for a while since the topic was brought up in my class, but I can’t come up with one. Maybe that I like watching Real Housewives of Beverly Hills or something, haha! But I think everybody likes that because it’s funny and stupid but you can’t stop because it always ends with a cliffhanger!

Guess I’ll have to start watching that this year then. What can we expect from you in 2015? And in the future?

Well, I’m moving to Malmö during the summer and then back to school for my second year in August! There’s going to be such a great summer I think. Much better than the last one as a heartbroken, always-crying-person. I hope to do more collaborations with inspiring people this summer and don’t be afraid to ask if you’re interested too!

If you are or know about somebody who’s an inspiration, creative or just very kickass and should be featured, comment below!

March babe of the month is the ever so funky Rosalina Tjioe of the blog Nine in the Afternoon. It feels like a present when her posts appear in my feed because they are realer but just as glossy and well curated as some high quality mag. In her blog we get snippets from her life in Jakarta, Indonesia and it’s full of on point minimalistic outfits, breathtaking photographs and beautifully written stories from her constantly travelling. HUGE GIRL CRUSH.

Hello Rosalinda, how are you doing today?
– Hi Linn. I’m doing great, just feeling a tad bit sluggish after spending the entire day doing essays.

We’d like to know more about who you are! Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your creative passions?
– I am a 19 years old girl currently living in Singapore. My interest with fashion started to blossom when I was in the last year of secondary education. I have to thank this space called the Internet where accessing to boundless inspirations and connecting to inspiring individuals are made possible. It nurtured my passion and by graduation I just knew that it is something that I want to do for the rest of my life. On the other hand, photography is something that I’ve been doing during the entire course of my secondary education and yet it is a passion that I just cultivated recently.

How did your blog Nine in the Afternoon come about and what has it grown to be?
– I came to know about the existence of blogs just right after I graduated from high school, which was probably 4 years ago. I guess I had too much time on my hands and I was just finding activities to tackle my boredom, but what strongly drew me to blogging was how it enables us to freely express our own perspectives of whatever that we are interested in. From then, I continued to post just whatever I like. It was kind of unexpected how blogging has become such an integral part of my life. I am absolutely grateful for the supportive readers and incredible opportunities blogging brings me, but best of all, it has connected me to wonderful individuals whom I’ve even crossed over into real life relationships with.

Any gems from your blog you’d like to share with new readers?
– I think some of my most meaningful posts are my travel diaries. My blog serves as a space where I can indulge in sentimental recollections of my life, so I try to vividly illustrate what I saw, heard and felt. It honestly brings me great joy to be able to share these moments that I cherished so much with all my readers.

What do you do to find inspiration for your creative projects?
– I draw inspiration from everything that is surrounding me; spaces, individuals, books and the Internet.

Who’s your biggest girl crush?
– Jayne Min of Stop It Right Now. I don’t understand how she managed to look carelessly cool yet feminine at the same time.

We all have that guilty pleasure, what’s yours?
– I’ve been trying to cut down oily food to compensate for the 19 years of unhealthy eating, but I just cannot seem to handle fried chicken.

What can we expect from you in 2015? And in the future?
– Although I’ve had a huge fondness towards photography for a long time, it just hit me recently that there are more to it than just capturing beautiful frames. I want to delve deeper into photography. But don’t get me wrong; I am never neglecting my ever-growing love for fashion. I want to do things that combine these two passions of mine, so I might just dive into fashion photography.

The babe of the month for February is the kickass Risa. Coming across her blog a few months ago I choked and now I couldn’t use enough superlative to describe her. Her outfit game is ridiculously good but most wicked is her attitude towards promoting and supporting other females – goddesses in her wording. So she was an obvious feature for this month.

Hello Clarissa, how are you doing today?

Hi Linn, my days going well, just finished shooting a blog post!

We’d like to know more about who you are! Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your passions?

Well, where can I start, I’m a young female living in East London, my blog has literally become my sanctuary and has played a big part of my life in the fashion industry. Before hand I enjoyed art and photography so it was only right I continued my creative side in some way. My passions are imagery, creative direction and I’m a real tomboy so I’m really into menswear styling.

How did your blog Vintage Doll Risa come about and what is it growing to be?

I started my blog 2 years ago and I started it to get myself out there and also do something fun like a hobby. I didn’t expect the response and following I have today and I am so grateful. It’s growing and becoming a place of inspiration to many young girls who support and keep up with me. It’s not only a blog anymore, but female empowerment and a reminder that whatever you wear you can be awesome and bold!

Who &/or what inspires you to be creative?

Everything around me, the people I love dearly, the internet, books, magazines. Everything is a source of inspiration to keep myself creating.

Biggest girl crush you’d like to highlight?

Girl crush: Alealimay

We all have that guilty pleasure, what’s yours?

I have many, but at the moment it would have to be PIZZAAAAA.

What can we expect from you in 2015? And in the future?

I plan to collab with more brands more hands on, designing collaboration pieces for underground brands!

Check out her blog here.

We kick off the new series BABE OF THE MONTH with the kickass twins Elizabeth & Victoria Lejonhjärta behind the account @lejonhjerta.

Hello! Can you tell us about yourselves?

We both get kind of overwhelmed whenever we’re asked to introduce ourselves. So to not drown you in Morpheus quotes we’re gonna stick to this:

We’re Elizabeth and Victoria. (Yes, in that order, the other way around is just so wrong!). We are twins, best friends and sidekicks. (Insert generic highschool joke on how were glued to eachother here). We have a wild imagination and reside in our own little world for the most where we like to get creative. We also like to think we’re badass superheroines from the north.

How did your instagram account come about?

We’ve both always enjoyed taking pictures but we steered away from social media for a long time. We retreated to the woods and spent a lot of time looking inwards and on trees. Eventually Elizabeth got an instagram mainly as a visual outlet and like with most of our stuff, we developed an inevitable shared custody. We were very shy at first and would only post about once a month as insta-padawans, but with time it grew into a proper jedi.

Who &/or what inspires you?

Everything: Trees, light, rain, Norrbotten, the dialogue in “Ghost in the Shell” from 1995. People who are re-inventing themselves in systems were they are mere objects: Black people in white spaces, women in patriarchal societys, invisible minorities, HBTQ people surrounded by heteronormativity ETC – who are taking control of their own representation.

What’s your biggest guilty pleasure?

Sugar. We’re such sweet tooths. Whenever we get offered any kind of sweets it’s always a yes. The thing is, neither of us have a perception of what, for example, a normalsized piece of pie looks like or how much is okay to eat from someones bowl of candy. Sorry friends.

What can we expect from you guys in 2015?

Except for working on our teleporting abilities, the only thing we can say for sure about the future is that we’re going to evolve. And definitely have more fun!
