Radar Mixtape: Jonas Kleerup

With its eclectic mix of mellow, melancholic, and
mid-tempo music, DJ and gallery owner Jonas Kleerup’s mixtape makes the perfect soundtrack to
kick off the weekend with.

Tell us more about your mixtape. What did you take inspiration from?
– It’s an eclectic mix of melancholic mid-tempo muzika that mixes global influences from different decades through our history. It’s aging disco heads and techno producers adapting classic songwriting techniques, it’s the archeology of the edit-masters and crate digging record labels, and it’s the young west coast punks of today re-discovering and re-using (or stealing) the same music! Honestly? It’s basically just what I’ve been listening to during this beautiful summer, and a few tracks I’ve been playing out a lot.

When do you think one should listen to it?
– The last hour of work on a Thursday or Friday before you head out to an event or an opening. It’s very work environment friendly, something for everybody, so put it on fairly loud at the office speakers, please. And open that wine bottle.

If your life was a movie, what would be the soundtrack?
–I’ll take whatever Wes Anderson is having. Or maybe I’ll just ask my brother to write me one.
