This week Swedish songstress Veronica Maggio is to release her fourth studio album, Handen i fickan fast jag bryr mig. Collaborating with Spotify, Maggio will release two new song per day until the official release on Friday October 4.
The new album contains the Maggio-like well-produced pop we’re all so familiar to, but this time with a more spontaneous take. The album title comes from the song Jag Lovar (I Promise) and tells the story about trying to seem unaffected even though there’s an ongoing rage on the inside, Maggio tells in an interview with Spotify.
She says in the interview that the record has a rather sloppy sound with an authentic live-feel to it, but holds out that there are many hours of production behind every single song.
Her vision about what she wanted to create lead her to collaborate with producer Salem Al Fakir, Vincent Pontare – and even singer Håkan Hellström.
Veronica Maggio is one of the most popular artists on Spotify – in 2011 she was the most played artist in Sweden. Her songs have been played 228 million times on the streaming service and her previous single, Sergels Torg, has so far been played 3.6 million times since the release.
