Under the Radar: Tony Cederteg

Director, designer, publisher, and movie dork, Tony Cederteg is the brains behind publishing house and production company Libraryman, acclaimed short movie Figs, and upcoming magazine Dogme. Just to name a few. Here he unveils his hidden talent and greatest extravagances.

Would like to meet…
– Halfway.

Most memorable night out…
– July 20th. Dinner with friend and new acquaintances in New York, followed by nearby concert and indifferent bar, where irresistible nature appeared, made me completely paralyzed and gave me wholehearted clarity in life, without seeking for it. Without a doubt the best moment ever.

My greatest extravagance…
– See answer above for Most memorable night out… and below for Wears… and by being able to travel on a regular basis, and to publish/design books with artists that I truly admire.

In my next life…
– I would like to modify the tragic life story of late actor Rockets Redglare and cast him as lead in my first feature film, of my next life, and attempt to do my outmost to extend his pure talent.

Wouldn’t recommend…
– To never visit Antwerp, Belgium. A lovely smaller city where the arts is taken very seriously and its architecture is to die for. The vibe is just great, with amazing cuisine, peoples, and shops. I’ve been there twice so far, and probably only within ten blocks. Once for inspiration and once for love – though alongside my greatest inspiration.

My hero…
– My mother Marie for putting up with me.

Before I die…
– I want to learn to master Hang, the instrument – I experienced it latest in the Kurdish film My Sweet Pepper Land by Hiner Saleem and it brings out sweet emotions, and cheesy sounds if you don’t treat it well.

Hidden talent…
– A decent yet rather strained guttural vocals. Perhaps not even enough to front a band, however—I am satisfied either way.

Just discovered…
– Furoshiki, a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth that is of many uses, e.g bags, gift wrap. In addition to its beautiful aesthetic and variability it contributes to the environmentally friendly- and recyclable aspect that I think more should adjust to.

Dances to…
– Monotony, bass, aggression, depth, and heart – i.e. a diverse plurality of emotional genres.

Laughs at…
– Hahaha.

Wears…
– Ann Demeulemeester (shirt), Uniqlo (coat), Maison Martin Margiela (shoes), Dries Van Noten (sweater), Muji (underwear), Comme des Garçons Homme Plus (trousers), Missoni (gloves) and Faliero Sarti (scarf) at this moment.

Most visited website…
– Apart from my email hosts and according to my account history I supposedly visit IMDb too much. The price I have to pay for being such a movie dork I guess. Dogme Magazine is up there as well.

Most read book…
– I flip through the same photo books thoroughly as often as the opportunity arises, but with literature I’m still a wanting-to-learn amateur. Though I would mention Of Walking In Ice by Werner Herzog – such a beautifully human concept.

Most viewed YouTube video…
– I think my views account for more than half of the total amount, such an amazing unreleased song.
