Radar Recommends w. 2

This week we recommend new tracks by Maria Minerva, Lisa Alma, and Femme En Fourrure, a documentary on the Chicago rap scene, and a surreal, musical movie by Becky & Joe.

Maria Minerva – Losing You
Born in the bedroom out of boredom, desperation and loneliness, Estonian underground starlet Maria Minerva is making the most enthralling and eclectic dance music. Said to have been made in half an hour, her latest track Losing You is a glitchy and gleaming little pop gem. Listen to it below.

Femme En Fourrure – The Beach EP
Music made for DJs and catwalks; also: for nightly promenades and oceanside sexin’. That’s how secretive Helsinki duo Femme En Forrure describes their dark, enigmatic music. This week saw the release of their excellent The Beach EP, with the duo’s smooth vocals set against haunting synth drones and bass-heavy beats. Watch the Ezra Gould-directed video for The Beach below and listen to the whole EP, including a remix by above mentioned Maria Minerva, here.

Becky & Joe
Next out in Dazed Digital video series Visionaries is Sundance-Award winning comedy-duo Becky & Joe, presenting a series of wonderful and weird short movies. Watch Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared, a surreal, musical movie about being creative, below, and see the rest of their work here.

Lisa Alma – Magic Power
This week, Copenhagen dream pop act Lisa Alma unveiled her brand new single Magic Power. Following last year’s self-titled debut album, the track is a sweet and sophisticated spin on eighties’ pop music. Listen to it below.

The Field: Chicago (A Profile Of The City’s Hottest Artists, The Violence That Surrounds Them And The Hope Music Brings To Their Lives)
World Star Hip Hop makes its movie-making debut with The Field: Chicago, a short documentary on the relationship between the city’s rap scene and the violence that surrounds it.
