Radar Recommends w. 3

This week’s Radar Recommends features a pastel dream video signed Little Jinder, new Sun Angels EP, and new remixes of tracks by Seinabo Sey and Sportsman.

Sportsman – Usher (1987 Remix)
Under the moniker of Sportsman, Stockholm based musician Per Magnusson is making beautiful, lo-fi r’n’b, combining smooth vocals with melancholy melodies and deep beats. This week, Radar Magazine darling 1987 unveiled his version of Sportsman’s Usher, marked his dark and ethereal trademark sound. Listen to it below.

Little Jinder – Ful och tråkig tjej
This week, Stockholm pop starlet Little Jinder dropped her second single in Swedish, Ful och tråkig tjej. Described by the artist as “a shameful song about jealousy and envy”, it is a bittersweet electro pop tune, with Jinder’s delicate vocals set against slow and seductive r’n’b beats. The song came with a wonderful, pastel dream video, directed and shot by Arvida Byström and Claire Kurylowski, and with styling by Tommie X. Watch it below.

Sun Angels – Crying Without Wings
Following their 2011 EP I’m Crying Everyone’s Tears and 2012’s Special 4-track EPCrying Without Wings is the third and concluding chapter to Sun Angels’ EP trilogy. A sophisticated blend of bouncy beats, euphoric soundscapes, and sweeping strings, it includes the heartbreakingly beautiful Cry, featuring vocals by Laura Clock and o F F Love. Where the former two releases dealt with global deleveraging and dance music respectively, Crying Without Wings is about the supposed bursting of the ‘EDM’ bubble, acting as a reminder that although dance music has a long history of commercial boom and bust, it is essentially impervious to artistic bankruptcy.

– The ‘EDM’ market may well crash, but dance music will remain, forever ready to catch you when you fall.

Listen to the EP below.

Llojd – Om vi faller
Last week, Malmö pop duo Llojd made their debut with Om vi faller, a sweet little love song about the wavering life of a twenty something. This week, the song was accompanied by a video with the song’s lyrics imposed over old photographs of Malmö. Om vi faller is the first take from the duo’s forthcoming debut EP, due out this summer.

Seinabo Sey – Younger
One of strongest debut songs of 2013, Seinabo Sey’s Younger has now been accompanied by a video, directed by Gustav Johansson. Following the song’s message that you aren’t getting any younger, the video shows a bunch of friends on an excursion to the woods, dancing, laughing, and skinny dipping. Watch the video below.

Seinabo Sey – Younger (Boeoes Kaelstigen Remix)
If you, like us, can’t get enough of Seinabo Sey, we strongly recommend this brand new remix of Younger, made by brilliant Stockholm duo Boeoes Kaelstigen.
